I recently finished the first two seasons of LOST. The show has been over for awhile, but my roommates both loved it and I thought I’d give it a shot. If you haven’t seen the show a large portion of the plot revolves around ‘The Dharma Initiative.’
‘Dharma’ is never defined in LOST. ‘Dharma’ is a Sanskrit word that translates to ‘the moral law combined with spiritual discipline that guides one’s life.’ It can also mean ‘upholding the order of the universe’. I have always personally understood it to mean following your true path or destiny. For example, teaching yoga is my Dharma.
However, I think Ellen DeGeneres put it best:
“Follow your passion. Stay true to yourself. Never follow someone else’s path
unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path. By all means, you
should follow that.”
