John Densmore from The Doors was recently interviewed in an article for Origin Magazine (the only magazine I will spend money on.)
In the interview John said,
‘The first drumbeat we all heard was our mother. We’re in the womb.’
I loved this statement, so simple and true. I opened my Prenatal Yoga class today, inviting the mamas to follow their intuitive ‘drumbeat’ and if anything felt wrong or off, to move at their own pace. We opened our special practice with the vibration of OM, offering up this soothing vibration to their babies and to themselves. Prenatal yoga is primarily flowing, rhythmic movements. It’s sweet to imagine rocking your baby in pelvic circles or in a flowing standing series. With the drumbeat of the mother, the vibration of an OM, and the dance of the physical practice, it must be quite the treat for the little yogi inside.
